PEARL, Miss. —
A multiagency operation targeting criminal activity leads to 60 arrests and the seizure of guns and illegal drugs, Pearl police officials said.
The operation, which was led by the Pearl Police Department, began weeks ago with investigation by detectives within the criminal investigations, narcotics and warrants division, authorities said.
Pearl police worked with the U.S. Marshals’ Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department and the Richland Police Department during the investigation.
“All of this work culminated into a one-day, multifaceted, multiagency crime enforcement blitz,” Pearl police officials said in a news release.
While executing search warrants, detectives seized 18 guns, more than 2 pounds of marijuana and more than 30 grams of methamphetamine, authorities said.
“At one of the homes, the U.S. Marshal Task Force located Jarvis Harper, of Jackson, who was wanted by (the Jackson Police Department) for motor vehicle theft and for questioning concerning his involvement in a 2019 homicide in Jackson,” police officials said. “Harper has since been formally charged by JPD for murder and robbery.”
The operation also included residency checks of all registered sex offenders in the city of Pearl and safety checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout the city.
